In lieu of a fully staffed "talk-in" station, AI1V - Rick will have a cross-band repeater set up on-site set to 147.480 MHz, cross-banded to 445.925 MHz.
There will be a 100 Hz tone squelch set up on the UHF side.
This system will allow anyone 'on-site' who is not busy when a call comes in to handle "talk-in" traffic -- plus give us the ability to connect locally.

(Purcellville, VA. April 1, 2009)   Welcome to Field Day 2009! This great tradition – which started 76 years ago back in 1933 – is the premier weekend for many radio amateurs and clubs throughout the United States. According to the ARRL, “Field Day is part educational event, part operating event, part public relations event – and ALL about FUN!” There’s something here for each member of LARG – whether you’re new to the hobby or were around back in ’33 operating your old Ford spark gap transmitter – Field Day 2009 “covers the spectrum” – touching on most all of the facets of our hobby. Want to improve your CW skills, learn contesting techniques, solve antenna problems, learn how to prepare for an emergency or develop new and enhance old friendships? Then mark your calendars TODAY for 27-28 June 2009 and support your club – while providing growth opportunities for each of us individually!

But you don’t have to wait until June to start! Join the LARG 2009 Field Day Planning Committee – and watch this event come together from the ground up! NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE IN THE HOBBY – there is a place for you on the planning committee. Call me or email me and let’s find the perfect fit for you!

Our club has a tradition of growing the hobby through training and ‘elmering’ new hams. Because of the excellent work of our training committee, we are fortunate to have a number of new faces this year – and we encourage each of you to come out and “join the fun!” While there will be a number of planning meetings between now and June, the antennas start going up on Friday afternoon, 26 June. Ask your boss for the afternoon off now!

Best Regards, Jeff Slusher - KE5APC, 2009 LARG-K4LRG Field Day Chairman
