Dodson Brown - AJ4EY
Captain, GOTA Station

Well, we really had a fine business Get-On-The-Air Station this year. Dodson Brown - AE4EY of Leesburg did a fantastic job bringing all the visiting youth, parents, and family guest operators up to speed. They really stuck with it and put 68 good contacts in the log. It was nice to have 15-Meters SSB open for much of the full daylight hours.

We made a special effort with an antenna for this station. The LARG purchased a new Hy-Gain LJ-153 John Long 3-element yagi antenna and Tom Dawson - WB3AKD provided a nice 30-foot trailer mounted tower. Many folks got involved with setting up and operating this station. We expect to see  some of them joining the amateur ranks and LARG very soon.

No more needs to be said. Just look at the excitement and intensity in the photographs below. You can also tell when the band went south.  (Identifications are intentional omitted.)

Rates on the GOTA Station. Do you remember your first contact. Well, multiply it by a thousand times and you might feel what went on during the GOTA operation. It was clear by Sunday morning when some returned that the bug had bitten as they put most of their QSOs in the log. This was exciting to check out through the weekend.

A lot of folks helped put this one up

 Dodson Brown - AJ4EY, thanks
for a job well done !!!
