Our low band Fone operations were on Station #2 that was assembled by Dave Mullins - K4ARP and Jeff Slusher - KE5APC. This was a well equipped station and attracted a lot of attention. The main rig was Dave's ICOM IC-756 PRO III and Heil Boom Mike. Jeff also set up his Yaesu FT-890. The antenna was the LARG's Windom up in the trees about 50-feet. Many tried their hand at tackling the crowded 40- Meters Fone band. It was stacked three deep. Our operators at Station #2 included:

Chris Fristad - KT9N, Paul Dluehosh - N4PD |
Chris Fristad - KT9N At The Mike With Visiting Students Larry Hughes - K3HE At The Keyboard With Chris Fristad - KT9N |

The Rates At Station #2 Station #2 tried 40 and 80-Meters Fone during the first several hours. Through 2100 hours local they had 77 QSOs on 40-Meters and 27 QSOs on 75-Meters. That's just 13 per hour and just a little slow. At 2200 hours Station #2 went to 75-Meters Fone full period and stayed there until 1100 hours Sunday morning. They put 275 counters in the log. There were some nice runs: 61 at 2200, 59 at 2300 and 32 at 0800 on Sunday morning. Who were these guys? The last two hours saw another 33 on 40-Meters and 11 on 75-Meters. When the smoke cleared, the final counts were 119 on 40-Meters Fone and 316 on 75-Meters Fone for 435 total QSOs. This is better than last year when the counts were 212 on 40-Meters and 115 on 75-Meters. This year things or operators must have worked on 75-Meters. Next year, let us try to make this station loud louder! |
