K4LRG-9 and K4LRG-FD APRS Station by KE4S - Dave Putman |
One of our non-traditional communications demonstrations was Dave Putman - KE4S's Automatic Position Reporting Systems. Dave deployed two. The standalone emergency digi-repeater was setup on site and carried the callsign K4LRG-6. It was registered on local APRS units including the mobile AI2C-1 unit of Norm Styer - AI2C. Dave's second unit was a separate APRS station with the callsign of K4LRG-9. As shown below Dave carried on several QSOs with other deployed Field Day stations. An APRS object for K4LRG-FD was also established for Field DAy operation by Dave. It resided on the world-wide APRS system throughout our operation.
This is the waypoint map downloaded from the AI2C-1 mobile unit. It shows the K4LRG-FD APRS Object and under KE4S-6 is K4LRG-6 Digi-Repeater as depicted in the expanded map insert processed by Garmin's MapSource. |
