Boyd Garrett - N5CTI
Station #4 was established by Co-Captains Boyd Garrett - N5CTI and Kurt Reber - KI4FWB. The station was Boyd's Yaesu FT-847 Transceiver, Tom Garasic - NA4MA's 3-element tri-band yagi mounted on Merc Skaggs' 28-foot extension ladder, Norm Styer - AI2C's ladder-to-mast-to-boom adaptor and 30-inch steel guy stakes, and a laptop computer furnished by Paul Dluehosh - N4PD. The station was powered by 12-volt batteries. Other operators on this station included Dave Putman - KE4S, Tom Carney - WB9RXJ, Steven Miller - WA9LDA, Bill McCourt - WF1L, Randy Sly - W4XJ, Jeff Slusher - KE5APC, and Blake Gillenwater - KI4OBV. |
The Rates At Station #4 The first hour is always the best on 20-Meters Phone. The storm delay didn't help things. The last hour was devoted to helping LARG Youth Operator Blake Gillenwater - KI4OBV make several contacts. For some reason the rates are down from past years with a total of 237 good QSOs. Last year 20-Meters Phone yielded 413 QSOs. Those sunset and post-sunrise rates are typical of band conditions. And 20-Meters Phone really gets loaded during the last two hours. |
