David Mullins - K4ARP Captain, Station #2 |
The
Rates At Station #2 Station #2 started nicely on 40-Meters Phone then after the storm tried a little 80-Meters Phone before going back to 40-Meters for the evening. About Mid-Night they tried 80-Meters again; that seemed to work. Other operators at Station #2 included Jeff - KE5APC and Karl - KI4BDS. The final good counts were 212 on 40-Meters and 115 on 80-Meters for a grand total of 327 QSOs. Last year it was 301 and 81 respectively. Maybe just conditions or what? By the looks of David's radio scope in the picture below there were not many open spots on 40-Meters; how about a bigger antenna? |
Station #2 Captain David Mullins - K4ARP At The Controls This is a well equipped station with an high-end transceiver, the ICOM IC-756 PRO III, Heil Boom Mike, and a nice laptop computer. The LARG's Windom Antenna was strung in front of the mansion at about 35 feet - just like last year. The station was powered by 12-volt dc batteries. Most importantly, the station is located on the porch right next to the food kitchen. |
