        Rates At Station #3 |
Station #3 started fairly well in the first hour on 40-Meters CW but the storm closed us for a two hours. By 5 PM we were back in business. Rates were a little slower than last year; most likely caused by all the stormy weather on the East Coast that closed a lot of operations. By 0400Z - Midnight - we had 231 in the log as compared to 474 last year. Overall, Station #3 put 540 good CW QSOs in the log compared to 860 last year. The peak hourly rate of 50 per hour at 1500Z proved 40-Meters is the place to be. |

Will it ever stop? We used Dave Putman - KE4S's APRS - Internet Connection to check the National Weather Service RADAR; it was clear that we were pretty lucky for most of Virginia and Maryland were well covered by more storms. Within an hour it past. | |

Paul - N4PD put together a very nice station when we learned that our 40-Meters CW anchor John Unger - W4AU would not be available. The station included a Kenwood TS-450SAT HF Transceiver, an I.C.E. Combination Bandpass Filter Model 419 RF filter, an IBM 701C Thinkpad computer, several voltage, watts and current meters and of course, a very nice Vibrokeyer by Vibroplex® and it is not iambic. The antenna system was John - W4AU's 40-Meters vertical full-wave loop. Gary Quinn - NC4S At Daybreak With Angi's Pancake Breakfast |
