The Loudoun Amateur Radio Group Of Northern Virginia & Its Radio Station K4LRG

The 2011 Loudoun Amateur Radio Group's K4LRG Field Day Operation was our 18th annual event. Since 2001, we have operated in the 5A Class of the annual American Radio Relay League's Field Day Operating Event. Yes, we know that Field Day is not a contest but it is an operating event; however, some of us can't help but push ourselves. We look for "long green runs" and most of us only drive counter clockwise. We try to balance this drive with the need to train, to practice, to bring on new operators, to show our communities that we might be able to help if the balloon ever goes up. The planning, the set-up and the operation is not much different from a "Just In Case" event. These Field Days make us all better operators. So the numbers count in many ways.
This year we again used N1MM Logging Program in a fully netted system among all stations. With N1MM we know every operator and when they signed on and off. Thus we can construct accurate operator performance profiles. So, review these charts and tables. They show us how we did. Who is getting better and who or which station may need a little assistance. Can you find your operations and contributions.
The 2011 operation was an Xtreme Performance and grades out as our best performance with 5000-plus QSOs and a national top ten ranking among all stations. 2011 surpassed our 2008 national ranking performance. The antenna physical plant was great and many new approaches were used to improve each station. Our stations on 40-Meters Fone and 20-Meters Fone set new K4LRG records. Yes, the Fone Guys had more QSOs for the first time but the 4-point CW QSO Pointers helped the CW Guys win again. Our hats are off to all the station captains and those who helped assemble everything on Friday evening. We thank all who added to these numbers. We trust we may learn from these and be ready for another great operation in 2012. Try to understand: "You gotta know when to hold'em and know when to fold them." Unless you are running at 40 or 50 per hour then you need to move, go ' search and pounce, check your equipment and antennas, or change operators. Bring your suggestions to our April 2012 K4LRG Field Day Committee organizational kcikoff meeting.

Band - Mode Operations

"Hold'em When You're Hot !!!
There were some 25,000-plus active stations.
Were we where we should be?
We had three stations with 75-Fone antennas. What happen:
We Did A Little Better On 75-FONE This Year.

Performance Of Our Operators
We Had some super radio operators.
You don't always have a hot band, so you do what you can to keep the rates.
We trust you will recognize them!
