The Loudoun Amateur Radio Group Of Northern Virginia & Its Radio Station K4LRG

K4LRG 2010 Field Day Operation
Station #3
CAPTAINS:  John Unger - W4AU  &  Bill Buchholz - K8SYH
OPERATING   ON   40-CW

The 2010 K4LRG Station #3 saw the return of the Super CW Op - John - W4AU. As last year, they co-located with Station #5 on 20-CW in John - WB5ODJ's workshop. John's Elecraft K3 HF Transceiver and his standard 40-Meter Delta Loop Antenna provided outstanding service. Notice the TGE Battery Booster above on right. John and Bill really appreciate all the help on Friday night with the set up of the Delta Loop Antenna. Bill - K8SYH and John ensured Station #3 was active. They were assisted by CW Op's: Jeff - KØZR and Rick - AI1V. We all have come to expect an outstanding showing on 40-CW. They did not disappoint us. They finished with 758 good CW QSOs including 66 and 59 rates during hours 1 and 2 by John.

The Rates

This is a 30 per hour rate for the weekend. Not too bad for a single band and single mode operation. The early morning hours are hard times. The 758 good QSOs is more than the 513 QSOs in 2009 and short of the record 927 in 2008.

In Summary: This was a nice operation. All day long Station #3 battled it out with Station #5 on 20-CW for the CW Honors and out gunned them by 59 QSOs. Station #1 took Multi-CW-Band totals with a combined 797 on 80-15-10-CW. It was nice to always hear 40-CW on the air. It sounds great.
