On October 16, 1999, the
Loudoun Amateur Radio Group operated Amateur
Radio Station K4LRG at the Boy Scouts of America
NCAC Goose Creek Scout
District Jamboree Site in the International Jamboree-On-The-Air at Banshee
Reeks Park near Leesburg in Loudoun County, Virginia.
K4LRG operated on the HF Bands using a
ICOM-730 HF Radio and a Windom Antenna and on the 2-Meter VHF Band using
a mobile 50-watt voice radio. Contacts were made with other JOTA stations
throughout the United States and South America. 2-Meter Contacts were made
with other LARG members operating throughout Loudoun County. About 100 Scouts
visited the radio site, talked to other Scouts via K4LRG and learned about
Ham Radio and Scouting and how
they could earn the Radio Merit Badge.
K4LRG was operated by Bill - K8SYH, Dennis - KF4TJI, Paul - N4PD, Larry -
KG4CGR, Tom - NA4MA, Angela - KG4AVR and Norm - AI2C. Dennis - KF4TJI
also demonstrated his 2-Meter Fox Hunting equipment and many Scouts found
the WB3AKD-FOX hidden in the woods. Norm - AI2C explained how the
Boy Scout Radio Merit Badge could be obtained.
A Special Thank You Goes To Dennis- KF4TJI
who helped install the HF Antenna on Friday and a Special Thank You also
goes to Larry - KG4CGR for taking these pictures with his new digital
camera.
