A Little Code Practice

A Little CW !

On Friday, April 14, 2000, Norm Styer - AI2C visited the home of David Wallace, Den Leader for Den Number 1, of Cub Pack 961 of Round Hill and Hillsboro, Virginia. Two Amateur Radio Stations were set up and operated as Amateur Radio Station K4LRG, the official callsign of the Loudoun Amateur Radio Group of Loudoun County, Virginia. The Cub Scouts assisted in assembling the two antenna systems in Mr.Wallace's backyard.

Two Meter and Ten Meter Radio Contacts were made with Ray - K4AJA in Purcellville and Paul - N4PD in Leesburg.  The Cub Scouts took turns talking to Ray and Paul.  After these local contacts, a long distance contact was made with David - KG7EW in Utah.  John Wallace talked with David.

Following the Radio Contacts, the Cub Scouts learned a little about the Morse Code - CW -  and received an American Radio Relay League Comic Book about Radio Adventures.  Right at dark, the Cub Scouts helped dismantle the stations and the antennas.
