Departed home location operating mobile on 2 Meters. At 0515 hours picked up KF4VBM - Bob at Leesburg Church of the Nazarene and drove to Reston Town Center arriving at 0545 hours. Bob and I proceeded to set UHF and HF stations. First contact was with KD4CSO in parking garage at about 0620 hours. Red Cross Event Director is on location with Army personnel and truck. They are dividing the supplies and preparing to depart for the support sites. They are all gone by about 0635 hours. Mark - N3GMW is on site and we decide to use his dual band radio and battery since Bob has problems programming his handheld.

Location: SW corner of the Reston Town Center, Reston, Virginia. Opened log with operation on 446.500MHz. Operators: AI2C, KF4VBM and KF4UUY. Operating cross band to KD4CSO located on top of adjacent parking garage to 147.480 MHz to other Loudoun County stations. Stations on the air are: KD4CSO - Cross Band , NA4MA - Arcola, KG4CGR -Ashburn, WB3AKD - Hillsboro. Also, up on 7275 KHz with NC4S - Gary's Icom IC 730 and low 40 Meter dipole antenna and a Group 29 12-Volt battery. Good signal from WB3AKD on 40 Meters.

Mary - KF4UUY departed with 4-element quad in hand to try to help KD4CSO. But she returned 30 minutes later having gone to the wrong spot. Art advised he was set up in the SW parking garage not the NW parking garage. The use of another antenna was abandoned. Mary advises that I owe her one.

Visited by KG0CGH (?) who advised that 440 transmitter had a mike locked. We had already discovered the problem and after a two tests of recycling the power on N3GMW's radio, we decided to close it down and use KF4VBM's handheld.
