We had a big 10-unit convoy out of the IGA in eastern Purcellville at 0520 hours. Everyone had rolled in a little early and we talked a while before mounting up. Gary Quinn - NC4S was point and and late comer Jeff Slusher - KE5APC relieved Paul Dluehosh - N4PD as trail. In between were Dave Putman - KE4S, Norm Styer - AI2C, John Unger - W4AU with Charlie Preston - K4LJH, Chris Fristad - KT9N, Rick Denney - KR9D, Dave Wentland - KE4OKY, and Grant Russell - KB3EMT.

We closed on the gate in western Berryville by 0550 hours. They were ready to take our money. It was nice to see Tina Jones - K8TMJ at the gate again. We collected a lot of followers as our big convoy moved east to the big shade tree area. They we using flashlights to look into our trucks and back seats. "Do you have any...?" We sold a lot of stuff by 0615 hours. Truly, the early birds always gets the worms.

           There were many - like 30 - Loudoun ARG current and past members seen this year: Gary Quinn - NC4S, Dave Putman - KE4S, Norm Styer - AI2C, Jeff Slusher - KE5APC, Bill Teacher - WB4ACC, John Unger - W4AU, Charlie Preston - K4LJH, Dave Wendland - KE4OKY, Steve Reed - WB4EZM, Paul Dluehosh - N4PD, Tom Dawson - WB3AKD, Allon Stern - KE4FYL, Jacob Guepe - KI4SPX, Evan Alford - KQ4CI, Randy Sly - W4XJ, Tina Jones - K8TMJ, Merc Skaggs - N4TGA, Denny Boehler - K4TJI, Bill Buchholz - K8SYH, Bill McCourt - WF1L, Grant Russell - KB3EMT, Dick Maylott - W2YE, Gabe Marcus - AJ4AD, Stephane G Hancock - KB3OVZ, Paul Supan - K6PS, Richard Demaret - KI4KXJ, Frank Gentges - K0BRA, Meg Gentges - AI4UX, Bill Frisbie - W3EMH, and Rick Denney - KR9D.

My old Army buddy, Bill Mills - KC4AA de Milledgeville, GA showed again this year. It was great to catch up on old times. We have kicked around the world to some rarer places over the years. Bill let me in on the recently completed BS7H Scarborough Reef DX-pedition. Bob Allphin - K4UEE from Southeastern DX Club of Georgia was deeply involved it this operation. They really had their hands full and a lot of unexpected expenses and red tape. Bill is going to round up a QSL card for me for my 20-Meters Fone QSO. This one is truly the last one for me on Fone.

Well, we all made it around all the stuff. Some deals were made but it seemed folks were asking for bargain basement prices. So, some stuff came home while other stuff is headed for the landfill. It might be the eBay influence; most were really just looking for cheap stuff and really didn't want to bargain: "You know, they offer something then you ask a little more and they split the difference and everyone feels good about it." The newbies seemed to be trying to figure out what some of the stuff was for or what they should really be looking for. Maybe next year will be better. Anyway, some of us stuck it out until the 1300 hour final drawings and then closed station - march order. We were home on Canby by 1330 hours. Hope to see you all next year. It was nice riding with you all. Best Regards, Norm Styer - AI2C de Clarkes Gap, Virginia.
