Norm Styer - AI2C was the captain of Station #1 which included the LARG's Kenwood TS-440 Transceiver, a Johnson KW Matchbox Antenna Tuner, a Bencher Chrome Dual Paddle, an external speaker, and a Compaq 75 MHz Laptop with the TR Logging Program. Four deep cycle 12-volt dc batteries powered this station. On Friday night, the LARG's Windom Antenna was erected but Norm was not satisfied with its performance. So, on Saturday morning a full size 80 Meter Dipole and a 40-Meter Dipole tuned for 15-Meters were installed. This station made 457 QSOs on 80-Meters CW, 62 QSOs on 15-Meters CW and 28 QSOs on 15-Meters Phone for a total score contribution of 2132 points. Norm reported 15-Meters conditions were extremely poor with very high absorption levels and moved to 80-Meters several hours before sunset on Saturday afternoon. Thanks also goes to some super CW operators including Mark Johnson - W3ZI, Jack Hammett - K4VV, Mike Loneke - W0YR, and Paul Dluehosh - N4PD. Norm says "Any of these guys can be his wingman anytime."
