HIGHLIGHTS OF THE FEBRUARY 1995 MEETING:

The demonstration of the Radiosonde by Charlie, K4LJH was quite interesting indeed. Hundreds of these devices are sent aloft every week and provide valuable weather data for use in charting weather patterns. They transmit a unique pattern of tones to relay Barometric pressure, temperature, and humidity information back to earth receving stations. From the outside they appear to be simple devices, but Charlie dissected one for us to reveal the inner workings which are certainly quite sophisticated.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR OUR MARCH MEETING:

In response to our Radiosonde demonstration several club members have expressed an interest in Launching and Tracking an Amateur Radio Balloon. The club will further discuss our plans to launch a balloon in the near future. John, W3GOI, will be providing literature which details the many various types of packages that have been incorporated in balloon launches. The balloons launched have been as simple as a beacon transmitters or as complex as remote cameras and GPS receivers. Should be quite interesting indeed!
Gary, NC4S will be holding a brief discussion on Signal strength. Gary will be providing copies of a past QST article dealing with this subject and will compare Signal strength and RF power from an Amateur radio perspective.
June is just around the corner! Time to make tentative plans about field day. Jason, KE4GUK, has volunteered to head our field day efforts this year. Lets hear your ideas and make some early plans to ensure field day is our best ever.
Many members have expressed and interest in moving our meeting starting time from 9:00 to 8:00 AM. Discussion will be held in regard to this matter.
It has been quite some time since we last submitted our club news to Autocall, If anyone would like to volunteer to be our club correspondent please drop us a note at our address above.
Many thanks to those who have paid your 1995 club dues. Your continued support ensures that our club activities continue on. Club dues may be Paid in person at our regular meetings or mailed to the above address.

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU ON MARCH 18th.
