JANUARY 1995 NEWSLETTER
LOUDOUN AMATEUR RADIO GROUP

The Loudoun Amateur Radio Group, P.O. Box 1004, Purcellville, VA 20134

Regular Meetings held the Third Saturday of Each Month, 9:00 AM at the N.C. BBQ Stop, located on 21st Street in Purcellville VA.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DECEMBER 1994 MEETING:

We had a good turnout in December; 16 club members were in attendance.

A vote was taken regarding rental of a Post Office box for our club correspondence at the new Purcellville post office. Please note our new official address at the top of this newsletter.

A vote for new Club Officers was held, our new club officers are:

               Gary Quinn, NC4S - President
John Unger, W3GOI - Vice President
               Larry Macionski, WA2AJQ - Secretary
               Dale Cabaniss, KD4LSL - Treasurer

Larry, WA2AJQ, demonstrated his packet weather software, which downloads data via a 2 meter link and then displays various parameters. Looks like a good system, if you are a weather enthusiast. Rumor has it that Larry was caught in the sleet/freezing rain on January 6, just like the rest of us. Larry, its time to toss those tire chains into the trunk again!

Since Ida Lee Park worked well as a Field Day site last year, a vote was taken to reserve the location for next year. Dale, KD4LSL, has contacted the Leesburg Parks and Recreation Dept. and we are on their calendar for 1995. Jason, KE4GUK, volunteered to head our field day efforts this year.

A special thanks to Paul N4PD, Nancy KE4RTP, Justin KE4PCX, Dave KD4TWR, Tony KD4EEQ, Chuck W4LFO, Gary KD4SRX, and Dale KD4LSL for their help with the Leesburg First Night Celebration. Paul and Nancy helped us start off the new year by organizing the communications for the event which went very well. Thanks again to all who braved the Cold, Damp air to help with the Event.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR OUR JANUARY MEETING:

The Demo of the W9GR DSP kit by John, W3GOI, was postponed until the January Club meeting; so you did not miss out if you were unable to make the December meeting. Come by and see if these popular devices will help you out with your noise problems.

There will be some continued discussion in regards to the club holding a Slow Speed CW practice net. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It's time again to pay dues for the Club. Club dues are still $12.00 a year. They may be paid in person at our regular meeting, or mailed to the Treasurer at the address above. Please make checks payable to the Loudoun Amateur Radio Group.

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU ON JAN. 21st.
