HIGHLIGHTS OF THE JANUARY 1995 MEETING:

John, W3GOI, demonstrated his W9GR DSP kit. He demonstrated how this incredible device with its various filter modes can help with those hard to copy signals. John's demonstration has proved that Digital Signal Processors will be a welcome addition to the Ham shack.

We discussed the details of holding a club net. Jack, WOPLX, and Charles, K4LJH, organized two tests the following Sunday at 2 P.M. and 8 P.M. on 28.360 MHz USB. The 8 P.M. test was by far the most popular of the two. From that experience we have decided to hold a weekly informal net. Apparently the Super Bowl had quite an impact on the turnout the following week, and several of us have had trouble remembering to get on the air the week after. For those of us who watch 60 minutes on Sunday night, just remember to warm up the radio as the closing credits are scrolling across the Television screen.

Larry, WA2AJQ, brought to our attention that the Shenandoah Valley Amateur Radio Club is forming a Search and Rescue group which will be working in coordination with state agencies. The Shenandoah club will be having some training and planning meeting in regards to this Rescue group in the near future. Anyone who is interested can contact Larry at (304) 728-0544.

Dale, KD4LSL, has received the approved Park use permit for Ida Lee. The club has permission to use the park grounds on June 24th and 25th for field day. While still a few months away, it is not too early to begin making plans.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR OUR FEBRUARY MEETING:

Charlie, K4LJH, and John, W3GOI will be demonstrating a Weather Radiosonde. Radiosondes are miniature radio transmitters that are attached to weather balloon and sent aloft. The instrument transmits specific coded tones containing information of Temperature, Humidity, and Barometric pressure.
We will be also discussing the possibility of our club launching a balloon as one of our activities. The feasibility and details of this activity .will be discussed.

It's time again to pay dues for the Club. Club dues are still $12.00 a year. They may be paid in person at regular meeting, or mailed to the Treasurer at the address above. Please make checks payable to the Loudoun Amateur Radio Group.

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU ON FEB. 18th.
