LARG Monthly Meeting
February 17, 2007


The meeting was called to order by President Dave Putman, KE4S, at 8:40am with 31 members present. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

 

Visitors, Alicia and Dwight, N2ALA and Woody KC0THS were introduced.

 

Dave called our business meeting to order. As the minutes are being posted in the Newsletter, a motion to accept as posted was entertained and the minutes were approved.

 

Jeff Slusher, KE5APC, our new treasurer submitted his report which was moved, seconded and accepted.

 

Committee Reports

 

Contests - John, W4AU reminded the club that the Virginia QSO Party is coming up the third week in March, just four weeks away.. Now is the time to begin planning for mobile or expedition operation.

 

Also, the ARRL DX CW Contest is this weekend.

 

 

Emergency/Public Service - Tom, WB3AKD, reported that planning for the Dulles Drill is already underway. Meetings have been held and comm plans are being written for the airport drill involving an aircraft incident. More details will be forthcoming.

Balloon - The Fox Hunt was scrubbed due to weather. A couple of new processors for the balloon project are now up and running. Next month a budget proposal for balloon activity will hopefully be proposed.

   

Training - The position of Training Chairman is currently open.

Old Business

 

Dave, KE4S, reminded the club that we will be looking at the VFW Hall, offered by Jay Greeley for activities, to see how we might utilize the building.

 

The annual meeting of the Dulles Amateur Radio Group will take place in April after the LARG meeting.

 

 

New Business

 

Discuss was offered concerning a more formal relationship between the Loudoun Amateur Radio Group and DARG. Bill, WF1L, will be coordinating exploration of this.

 

For Field Day, Dave, KE4S, reported that we still needed a Field Day Chairman. He also indicated that there may be problems returning to Banshee Reeks. Jeff Slusher, KE5APC, volunteered for a second term as Field Day Chairman. Thanks, Jeff!

 

Denny, KF4TJI, announced that he still had T-shirts available from the Reston Bike Ride as well as Calendars for sale.

 

The club was also reminded that Winterfest, sponsored by the Vienna Wireless Society would be held the following Sunday.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 9:05am.
